Class project 2 - Doily Square Card

Here is the second project from this past weekend's class.

We used the Scallop Square Die to create a card base. I selected Blushing Bride. I can't believe it's about to retire. I'm so sad about that color is leaving us soon.

Then we used the new Doily die with vellum. I tried this with the SU Vellum Cardstock & Regular vellum weight. I'll be honest, both were tricky. They are stunning but very tricky to get a full cut and extract it in one piece. I chose to look at it like the saying goes, 'Nothing worth while comes easy.' (Not the exact wording but you get the meaning.)

I had six amazing friends join me for the class, so 30 of these little babies was quite a challenge. We ended up making the last three out of white cardstock to speed things up. And boy...you should see the mess we made on the floor.

The image is from the Summer Smooches set in So Saffron, Marina Mist, and Old Olive.

I punch a so saffron Designer lable, snipped it in half and layered under the stamped image. I hid the snip using the slot punch Scallop Dot ribbon. (nothing better & my favorite)

Easter goodies

I found out late last night that my 9 year old's third grade class was giving out treats instead of having the usual Spring party because too many of the kids were going to be on vacation on Friday. So I ran up to my craft room and whipped up these little cuties for my li'l cutie to pop in their construction paper baskets.

I used the 1x8" cellophane bags. They are a bit tricky to fill at first, but easy once you get on a roll. I already purchased M&M eggs & Jelly beans for another project so my oldest son and I filled 30 of them up, assembly line style.

I used Gift Givers tag stamp set. I love it because every stamp fits a punch. It's from the 2011 Holiday Mini (hope it makes it to the big catalog June 1.) i quickly colored the image using Green Galore (retired) Marina Mist, Blush Blossom, & Peach Parfait Stampin' Write Markers and a pink glitter pen.

Bordering on Romance 1

I've fallen in love with Bordering on Romance from the Stamping' Up Occasions mini catalog. It's so pretty and versatile.

We used it to make this last weekend at the workshop. I designed this card to showcase the new border embossing folders and dies. Love those too!

Here are all four cards for our upcoming Christmas Card class Nov 20th 1-4pm.

Christmas Card Class 2011

Hi again,

Today, I am showcasing the cards we'll be making at our upcoming 2011 Christmas Card Class. Select either Friday, Oct. 21st 6-10p or Sunday, Oct. 30th 1-4pm. (We may add November dates if there is a demand.)

Choose to make 5 each of all four card designs (two are shown here, two are shown on Carolina's site)

or

Select any combination of four bundles (of 5 ) of any of the four card designs.

 

Either way, you'll make 20 cards. Your kit will also receive a carrier, envelopes and everything you'll need to make all 20 cards for only $25.

Winter Wednesday

Hope you're all warm and cozy! I know we're very lucky here in San Jose to have decent weather more often than awful but, I sure am chilly lately and the gray skies just won't do! We're in the high 50's now and rainy about every other day. Waaa... Probably sounds like Spring to a lot of you out there w/your beautiful snowy landscapes. 

 

Well, here's what I have for you today. Hope it brings you many warm fuzzy & no cold pricklies! (one of my favorite books. Every child should have in their regular reading schedule! You 'get it' on different levels every time you read it.)

When we made the card in my SAS, we added a red rhinestone nose. Everyone loved it!

Beginning to look a lot like Christmas (crazy...)

Hi all,

This year I was the annoying person who could brag a few days after Thanksgiving that all of my Christmas shopping was done and my Christmas cards were already in the mail. Well...I think the Christmas Crazy has finally hit me (hard...in the back of the head.) Life's treadmill just sped up about a dozen miles per hour since Friday. I'm officially behind now and worried it'll be hard to catch up. Turns out while I was so 'perfectly' doing all that other stuff, I had neglected my laundry pile turning into a mountain and a few other boring things, I'll save you from. 

But, the good news is after a mini-freak out on Friday, I made up some traction and also forced myself to find some peace and stamp. Here's a new one for you to hopefully gain some inspiration or cheer from during this busy holiday season.

 

You might notice I striped his scarf. Just felt like it needed it!

Scrappin' for School

I'm so excited to share a scrappin' day with some lovely friends at a local school this Saturday. It's a fundraiser for them but, surely will be tons of fun for all! I'm using a Retired Stampin' Up Simply Scrappin' kit Sunshine Garden. It's perfect for Spring & so pretty!! 

I love the stamp set "Favorite Things". The journaling block looks great, stamped in Always Artichoke on Naturals Ivory, Then I popped up a "happy" rectangle over the arrow.

Tip: Have a small tub filled with Baby Powder to take the sticky off the self-adhesive die cuts.
